Step 1: Know Why You Are Moving
Before switching carriers, write down what has to improve. Pay, miles, home time, equipment, communication, and respect are different problems. Knowing the real reason keeps you from accepting the same problem with a new logo.
Step 2: Verify the Basics Early
Confirm experience requirements, age requirements, MVR standards, job history expectations, and any safety restrictions before you spend time on orientation. If a carrier is not a fit, it is better to know quickly.
Step 3: Compare the Whole Package
Look at weekly gross, average miles, lanes, home time, truck age, freight type, cameras, pet policy, and who handles driver issues. A clean offer should be easy to explain.
Step 4: Leave Cleanly
Protect your record. Return equipment, finish paperwork, and avoid creating preventable issues with your previous carrier. A clean transition makes the next job start easier.
